Market your Textbook

Your Textbook is in production and due to publish in a few months. 🙌

Now it’s time to start thinking about the best way to market and promote the textbook to potential adopters and student readers. The team will start gathering information to prepare the marketing campaign.

The four most critical things you can do to help spread the word are below.

1. Tell us about how your book is structured to support teaching and learning

Complete your author marketing questionnaire form providing as much detail as possible about the book and its audience. It might be pedagogical features that help students’ reflective study, unique case studies or additional resources for use in the classroom. Let us know which courses are relevant including department, school or faculty name. Where else in the world might it be used? Complete the textbook author questionnaire (if you haven’t already).

2. Write a blog post

This helps encourage others to find out more about the textbook and hopefully take a look inside. Tell everyone why you wrote the open access textbook and how it can help tutors and students gain deeper insights. Describe the specific features and benefits of using the text. Not sure where to start? We have this handy questionnaire to help prompt you if you’d prefer.

3. Talk about your book – in your own words

There’s nothing quite like hearing directly from the expert! Record a short video clip explaining why you developed this teaching resource and how it can be used to help students learn. If you’re unsure where to start, these handy guides will explain how.

4. Share via your networks

If you’re a member of a listserv, society or association – spread the word when your book is published. You can ask the team for an email signature banner or social media graphics that you can share on LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads or other networks. Download and share a book flyer from your book’s web page.

The marketing department is available to advise and support on opportunities for your Textbook. Everything you do above will help us reach a wider audience. Thank you.
